excess
In this series I work with the provocations of excess. The starting point is always the unapologetic declaration of flatness, from which thick layering and applications of oil paint build up to grotesque abstractions. In these unpolished, developing, time-bound compositions, each application of oil paint requires at least a month to dry. I play with the idea of sculpting time and space in an outward, expansive, slow gesture toward the viewer.
