the pink elephant in the room
In this series I use humor and color to address how, despite widespread gender inequity, discussion of gender issues continues to be taboo in many different contexts. The Pink Elephant in the Room emerged through an invitation by former A.I.R. gallery director to participate in Art x Women, a special project of nine galleries exhibiting work by women artists hosted by A.I.R. Gallery and The Affordable Art Fair NYC( 2011). The project included talks, discussions, tours and special installations. Participating galleries: A.I.R. Gallery, Brooklyn, NY Accola Griefen Gallery, New York, NY, ARC Gallery and Educational Foundation, Chicago, IL Rutgers Institute for Women and Art, New Brunswick, NJ Ceres Gallery, New York, NY Concrete Utopia, Brooklyn, NY Kris Graves Projects, Brooklyn, NY SOHO 20 Gallery, New York, NY, Tabla Rasa Gallery, Brooklyn, NY
