The Moment When You Feel

The Moment When You Feel was an installation conceived specifically for the entrance of the Mexicali Biennial at the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art. The installation manifests the mythical figure of Amazon Queen Calafia–the warrior who is the namesake and ruler of the island of California and protagonist of the Biennial–as traversing welcoming and unwelcoming discourse, history and territory; the promised land as a site of work power and performance through the symbolism of a crown icon and the appropriation of the Hollywood red carpet forging its own path up and around the tall white wall in the “welcoming” hallway of the museum.
